Death of Moses Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language.Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo. He went to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land. He showed him Gilead as far as Dan. He showed him all of Naphtali and the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh. He showed him all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea. He showed him the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.
Then the Lord said to him, 'This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I said I would give it to their descendants. I have let you see it with your own eyes. But you will not cross over into it.'
Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not weak. His strength had not left him. The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab for thirty days. The time of grieving and weeping was over.
Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom. Moses had placed his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him. They did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses. The Lord knew him face to face. The Lord sent him to do all the signs and wonders in Egypt. Moses did those wonders against Pharaoh, against all his officials, and against his whole land. No one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
Before he died, Moses blessed the tribes of Israel. He said, 'The Lord came from Sinai. He dawned over them from Seir. He shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes. Surely it is you who love the people. All the holy ones are in your hand. At your feet they all bow down. And from you receive instruction. The law that Moses gave us is the possession of the assembly of Jacob. He was king over Jeshurun when the leaders of the people assembled. The tribes of Israel were together.
Let Reuben live and not die. Let his people be few.
Hear this, Lord. Hear the cry of Judah. Bring him to his people. With his own hands he defends his cause. Oh, be his help against his foes.
About Levi he said, 'Your Thummim and Urim belong to your faithful servant. You tested him at Massah. You contended with him at the waters of Meribah. He said of his father and mother, 'I have no regard for them.' He did not recognize his brothers. He did not acknowledge his own children. But he watched over your word. He guarded your covenant. He teaches your precepts to Jacob. He teaches your law to Israel. He offers incense before you. He makes whole burnt offerings on your altar. Bless his skills, Lord. Be pleased with the work of his hands. Strike down those who rise against him. May his foes never rise again.'
About Benjamin he said, 'Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him. The Lord shields him all day long. The one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.'
About Joseph he said, 'May the Lord bless his land with the precious dew from heaven above and with the deep waters that lie below. Let him bless his land with the best the sun brings forth and the finest the moon can yield. Let him bless it with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills. Let him bless it with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness. Let the favor of him who dwelt in the burning bush rest on the head of Joseph. Let it rest on the brow of the prince among his brothers. In majesty he is like a firstborn bull. His horns are the horns of a wild ox. With them he will gore the nations. He will gore them even to the ends of the earth. Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim. Such are the thousands of Manasseh.'
About Zebulun he said, 'Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out. Rejoice, Issachar, in your tents. They will summon peoples to the mountain. There they will offer sacrifices of the righteous. They will feast on the abundance of the seas. They will feast on the treasures hidden in the sand.'
About Gad he said, 'Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad's territory. Gad lives there like a lion. He tears off an arm or a head. He chose the best land for himself. The leader's portion was kept for him. When the heads of the people assembled, he carried out the Lord's righteous will. He carried out his judgments concerning Israel.'
About Dan he said, 'Dan is a lion's cub. He springs out of Bashan.'
About Naphtali he said, 'Naphtali is abounding with the favor of the Lord. He is full of the blessing of the Lord. He will take possession of the land as far south as the lake.'
About Asher he said, 'Most blessed of sons is Asher. Let him be favored by his brothers. Let him bathe his feet in oil. The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze. Your strength will equal your days.'
There is no one like the God of Jeshurun. He rides across the heavens to help you. He rides on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge. Underneath you are his everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you. He will say, 'Destroy him!' So Israel will live in safety. Jacob will dwell secure in a land of grain and new wine. The heavens will drop dew on him. Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you? You are a people saved by the Lord. He is your shield and helper. He is your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you. You will tread on their heights.'
Moses climbed Mount Nebo alone. He saw the Promised Land from a distance. He died there on the mountain. God himself buried Moses. No one knows where his grave is to this day. Moses was the greatest prophet in the Old Testament. He led God's people out of Egypt. He gave them God's law. He talked with God face to face. He was a faithful servant of the Lord. Even though he did not enter the Promised Land, he saw it with his own eyes. He knew that God always keeps his promises. Joshua would lead the people into the land. Moses' work was finished. He went to be with the Lord.
